Upon relocating to my home state of Georgia, I set about exploring the community and meeting new neighbors through volunteer work with some local service organizations. With a mind to find my best fit in Atlanta’s generous public service community, I completed “100 Days of Helping” over the summer of 2015. I worked with local organic farms (CSAs), animal sanctuaries, nursing homes and hospices, as well organizations that aid refugee families. It’s been a pleasure to learn new skills while meeting the amazing people who both donate and receive much needed services here. I continue to enjoy weekly work share shifts with Love is Love and Fat Land Farms, and I’m particularly interested in the use of farming and horticulture in the fields of education and therapy.
